My Best of 2021 Nominations

Greetings, reader!

I'm doing something a bit different for this week and the following one. I've always been a sucker for the Academy Awards and other such ceremonies, but I often find myself disagreeing with the nominees and winners that are chosen. Therefore, I'm left with no choice but to make my own annual awards! This week, I'm announcing my nominees for the best in cinema, television and music from the year 2021, and next year, I'll release the list of winners.

Movies

General rule: All feature films released between January 1st, 2021 and December 31st, 2021 are eligible - and I'm obviously only counting ones that I've seen. As big of a movie buff I am, I haven't unfortunately gotten around to watching every film from 2021, so there are bound to be some gaps. Each category has five nominees, one of which will be chosen as the winner by next Thursday.

Television

General rules: I originally planned separate categories for dramas and comedies, like they do in the Emmys, but I hadn't watched so many new shows that this would've been interesting (each comedy category would roughly have the same five comedy shows as nominees). Shows are only judged based on the episodes they released during the year 2021. Documentary shows are eligible, but only for the categories where they fit - for example, a documentary series obviously can't be nominated for Best Leading Actor, but they can be nominated for a vast majority of categories.
